Shared Classes OverviewUsing the Share Class option from the main System Utilities menu, you can share your question banks, resources, and assignments with other instructors. Class sharing is an ideal way to manage multiple class sections of a large course using common question banks and assignments, ranging from practice sessions to exams. Shared classes can also contain unique question banks and assignments that are not part of the parent class.
Question banks and assignments inherited from a parent class are always
identified in lists by the
icon, which appears beside the
assignments and question banks.
Changes, additions, and deletions made to question banks and assignments in the parent class are automatically distributed to child classes.
If you edit a question bank that you inherited from a parent class, your changes populate any assignments in your class that use the edited questions; however, you must save your question bank with a unique name (using the Install option in the Question Bank Editor).
If you edit an assignment that you inherited from the parent class, your changes are reflected in the assignment sessions taken by students in your class immediately after you save your changes.
Important: In general, changes to question banks or assignments in the parent class automatically update the copies of the question banks or assignments in your child classes. However, if you edit and then save your copies of the inherited materials using their original names, you do not receive updates. You are strongly encouraged to save your edited copies of these materials using a unique name so that you will receive automatic updates from the parent class to the inherited contents of the same name.
